Worcester is a busy Cathedral city, rich in history in the West Midlands, home to over 94 thousand people. It's roots are set deep in the pages of time as far back as the Neolithic period, the Romans were here, and after the Norman Invasions Worcester's status rose. The river Severn flows through the heart of the City and past the magnificent 12th Century Cathedral that dominates the skyline. Famed for it's Worcestershire Sauce across the globe that was first created in 1837, and it's delicately painted fine porcelain that was started by Doctor Wall, today the Worcester porcelain can be admired at their Museum, and there is always a chance to see talented artists at work as they create their masterpieces. Follow in ancient footsteps and visit the Cathedral with stunning architecture, venture inside and discover the tombs of King John, and Henry VIII's brother Prince Arthur, pause and look up at the striking painted ceiling, fabulous arches and vaults that are sure to impress, and the west window whose kaleidoscopic brilliance will steal your breath in an instant. The Guildhall is a striking Queen Anne style building with painted Assembly Rooms, and glittering chandeliers, it was built in 1722 and has fine paintings on display. This vibrant city with elegant Georgian buildings, shops and restaurants in plentiful supply offers a wide choice for the most discerning visitor, whether it's backing the favourite at the race course, or climbing aboard a boat for a pleasurable journey up the river, or there is always the wildlife to be found by the Worcester and Birmingham Canal. Worcester was the site of the last bloody battle fought during the Civil War when Oliver Cromwell and his Roundheads were victorious in battle with King Charles II and his Cavaliers, the only battle today is where to start the adventure.
