Inverness Airport is situated just nine miles from Inverness City, once home to the RAF during WW11, and started as a commercial Airport in 1947, with passenger numbers rising to 700K in 2007. There a good links with Coach and Train into the City of Inverness then either local bus or Taxi for the journey to the Airport. For those passengers wishing to drive the route is well signposted, if travelling from the East take the A96 toward Inverness, from North or South take the A9 toward Inverness. On arrival there is a choice of car parking and for disabled passengers there is either drop off outside the Terminal building or designated parking spaces if required. Once inside the Terminal Building the Check In Desks, together with trolleys are easily found, there is also ATM machines that accept major debit and credit cards. The Information Desk offers Fax and photocopy facilities if required, and there are also car and van rental operators for passengers wishing to hire a vehicle and even a hotel booking system. For Disabled passengers there are specially adapted toilets, designated seating, and wheelchairs are also available together with assistance boarding the aircraft. For the all important nappy change there are comfortable baby change facilities on offer. With a choice of restaurants, cafes and bars to chose from most tastes are catered for, or for passengers with a little time to spare there are several shops to browse
