Birmingham Airport is situated eight miles South East of Birmingham City Centre on the A45Birmingham to Coventry main road next door to the NEC Centre. Fifty Airlines operate from here flying to 125 destinations, which made it popular with the 9.2 million passengers who used the Airport in 2007. The Airport is well served by Taxis, Bus, and Coach links, for cyclists free parking is available in The short stay car park and longer stays a nominal fee is charged. Birmingham International Rail Station is linked to the Passenger Terminals via a free link which operates every two minutes and the journey takes the same. By car, leave at junction 6 on the M42 Motorway, or there is direct access to M1, M5,and M6 Motorways. Originally opened in 1939 has seen many changes including the opening of Terminal Two and the first Airport in the UK that provided WIFI access. Both of the Terminals are linked via the Millennium Link Bridge and wheelchairs are available on request, Mini Com System is at the Airport Information Desk where the staff are able to use Sign language and have an Induction Loop for the hard Of hearing. Baby changing facilities, shops, cafes, bars and Bureaus in which to change money are also on offer, as are cash machines accepting all major credit and debit cards. Serendipity has games, amusements, rides and video games, or the Aviation Experience has terrific views over the Airfield with interactive screens and a games centre. Or perhaps the Play Area in the Departure Lounge in Terminal 1will tempt a visit with the quiet play on offer. For Business travellers the Business Booth’s in the Departure Lounge in Terminal 1 has small individual work stations together with the use of power points, fax, telephone and a Modem Port.
